As a former startup founder myself, I realize how hard it can be to get your product/solution/service/whatever recognized. Any press or customer goodwill goes a LONG way when you are just trying to get your dreams off of the ground.

So, you take advantage of every opportunity you can find…and this one is a pretty nice one.

Momenta Ventures has created the The LoRaWAN Startup Challenge to recognize the most-innovative early-stage startups leveraging low power, wide area networks (LPWAN), specifically LoRaWAN-based technologies.

There are a few really great opportunities that you can access by participating, including presenting your product in front of all of the LoRa Alliance™ members at the LoRa Alliance Annual Members Meeting in June, show floor presence at the event and a LoRa Alliance membership for a year! That’s some pretty good air cover for a startup with an excellent idea, some moxie and a great product.

And if you are getting started in the LPWAN space, the LoRa Alliance is an excellent organization to be associated with:

“The LoRa Alliance is an open, nonprofit association that has grown to more than 500 members since its inception in March 2015, becoming the largest and fastest-growing alliance in the technology sector. Its members closely collaborate and share experiences to promote and drive the success of the LoRaWAN protocol as the leading open global standard for secure, carrier-grade IoT LPWAN connectivity. With the technical flexibility to address a broad range of IoT applications, both static and mobile, and a certification program to guarantee interoperability, LoRaWAN has already been deployed by major mobile network operators globally, with continuing wide expansion into 2019 and beyond.”

I encourage all of you to take a look at what they are doing and consider joining to ensure that you stay in the loop on the most exciting LPWAN technology in the market, but also to take part in contributing to the advancement of the open LoRaWAN protocol !

So, if you have an excellent idea for an IoT solution that is based on Semtech’s LoRa® devices and wireless radio frequency technology, enter the contest and get recognized for it. This is the kind of coverage that is hard to get when you are first creating your business, so take advantage of it while you can, and I hope to see you on stage in Germany presenting your solution!

Good luck,

Steve Hegenderfer
